Meet Lex: Reporter, Editor and Sustainability Advocate

I’m Lex Nelson — an Idaho Press Club award-winning reporter, content writer and editor based in Boise, Idaho. I specialize in food and environmental reporting, and my work has been published by Lonely Planet, Boise Weekly, The Idaho Press, Project FARE, Edible Idaho, Visit Idaho, IdaHome Magazine, Boise Lifestyle Magazine and more.

I’ve lived in Idaho and Montana since 2004, and worked in journalism since 2016, including time as a senior staff writer, special publications editor and freelancer. I come from a family of Nebraska dairy farmers on one side and Montana cattle ranchers on the other. They taught me to appreciate the land, good food and the people who make it possible!

I graduated from Boise State University with a major in Creative Writing and a minor in Sustainability, and served as one of Boise’s first Livability Ambassadors. When I’m not reading or writing, you can find me shopping the Boise Farmers Market or sipping my way through the Sunnyslope Wine Trail.
